The rapid development of this modern culture has led to the emergence of numerous radio stations that not only introduce the public to world club music novelties but also analyze current hits and set their own quality standards that the world’s most famous DJs strive to meet.
Many do not categorize club music by styles and create their favorite playlists from everything that the industry releases, but there are also those who become fans of specific directions in this music. Of course, what to listen to should be decided by ear, but before getting acquainted with numerous tracks, one can get to know what different club music styles offer:
- House – emerged in the USA in the 80s, main features are a straight beat and speed of 120-130 beats per minute, composed of elements of soul, funk, and disco;
- Trance – appeared in the early 90s, has specific synthesizer melodies, pronounced bass, and a light rhythm;
- Techno – features primitive synthesizer melodies, artificial rhythm of drum machines, and computer effects. The tempo is relatively fast with a straight rhythm;
- Hardcore – an extreme direction in club music, characterized by a direct hard beat. Features distortion, brutal and not always censored lyrics;
- Hard Dance – beat from 145 beats per minute, similar to techno style, includes heaviness of sound;
- Minimal – consists of a minimal number of sounds, characterized by primitive track creation technologies, sound is maximally processed with effects and computer technologies;
- Drum and Bass – features a broken beat, fast tempo, and specific bass;
- Psychedelic Trance – a variety of trance music, the feature is pronounced psychedelia;
- Dubstep – dance music, characterized by a broken sound;
- Breaks or Breakbeat – broken rhythm, tempo 110-150 beats per minute;
- Downtempo, trip-hop – music designed for chill-out zones, it is slow and very calm;
- Ambient – lacks distinct sound structures, features background, sometimes blurred sound.
Despite such a large number of styles in club music, all directions have common traits that make them somewhat similar to each other. Therefore, for many, club radio becomes the most optimal option for getting acquainted with new, unique tracks.
